I have posted a Blog about Censorship in Thailand http://annajetblog.blogspot.com/
Following on from this I must ask everyone to keep to generalities, if we get too specific or descriptive in our posts - I think Trip reports are a real risk - then we could have problems at some stage.
I think a number of the current trip reports are actually copied to other Boards as well as this - I think UKBKK.com mirrors most of them. Therefore, I've decided that I'll remove them from this forum. Thank you to the guys who took the trouble to post and contribute.
As Succession becomes a greater priority then we must expect the ruling cadres in Thailand to become more repressive as they protect their interests.

Hi boss !
I have just read your new blog entry ( and the text you referred to ) with great interest.
I understand your concerns and your reason why you feel the need to remove the trip report section from this forum... and I agree with your decision.
Even a protected ( access for members only ) trip report section wouldn´t be of much help, because everybody can register here easily.
Freedom of speech ? Yes !
But maybe we shouldn´t speak too loud !
Nevertheless, no one of us has ever posted anything that wasn´t true... but we did so with all the respect we have for Thai people.
Each of us in his own way... and my way was about writing long novelizations in my blog... by describing my experiences in a very polite way.
Without being too paranoid, I can see the same danger ( which you have described here ) for UKBKK and my blog, because even we are definitely not paranoid, it doesn´t means that they are not after us... lol !
I will not discuss necessary changes for UKBKK here, because this has to be discussed with our admin and the moderating team.
But I have now reached the point of re-thinking my own internet presence at blogspot.com.
Beside the long texts, I have posted many pics and links there... which might give THEM a reason to block my site.
What do you think, boss ?
Do you think that I would do better by modifying or shutting down my blog page, with regards to the coming censorship ?
I don´t expect that you read all the blog entries... but maybe you can have a look over it and inform me about what you think that I should better do with it.
By the way... How are you going to maintain and register the AJ sites from the UK only, while you live in Thailand ?
Even you might have a friend in UK doing this for you... wouldn´t it be depressing for you to run a site without having access to it from Thailand ? _________________ http://mekongmike.blogspot.com/

| again i believe we are on a forum, that the world can have access on many levels... to the newbee or some of the regular posters... or just someone who would like a vision of a holiday or knowege to stay safe. as i have stated before. the level of detail in recent trips . should be curtailed to the point . could ma granny read this or niece and nephew and according to their values and beliefs think my holiday was just a three week trip with sun ,sea and consenting adult fun....just food for thought !!!!my mum could read all my posts and not blink an eye. due to repect for thai and respect for all that read my posts.ppps pete new photos how many days? |

When the Military passed the laws, quite a few sites were blocked. The last number I read was 2300. Sadly there is no return if you are on the 'Blocked' list with the current set up. Filters, Packet sniffing and keyword filtering are used to keep the doors shut and others added to the list.
Best way to look at it, treat the women well, treat the country well, respect the religion, respect the culture, respect the monarch and lastly respect the law enforcement authorities... You cannot go wrong.
If you register a website, it goes in your name, like the UK, Thailand monitors its borders especially the airports. Do you fancy Bangkok Hilton? |

I see more than internet censorship in all this... Therefore I think that using our photos as avatar pics has become a bad idea !
I don´t want to discuss this any further.
I just want to announce my new avatar pic here:
It´s a caricature of my favorite Star Wars character, Han Solo, which I found on the "How It Should Have Ended" website...
For Yogi, Kenny and other fun lovers... here is the link to more avatars like this:
http://www.howitshouldhaveended.com/downloads.php
Scroll down from wallpapers to avatars after entering the site.
They all have the perfect size to get uploaded to your profiles. _________________ http://mekongmike.blogspot.com/

| I wouldn't think having a tasteful avatar would cause too much grief with people. After all when you see an advert for Thai airways you see a beautiful Thai girl with a great smile, not Han Solo, Chubacha, or some spotty blob of a bint from back of beyondburi. They want to sell the country great smile, beautiful women/people, beaches, and scenery. Typical Thai way of doing things is sweep it under the carpet. |

Hi Mike ............. I think this is more appropriate , as it reminds me of you when we met up last time .
This is Hans Solo , with his gun in is hand and ready to fire .
I also came across one for " Boss Man " !! , highly appropriate at this time , don`t you think !!!! .
regards yogi
