Hi Peter , this is a follow up from Koen rotty`s question . Has the world is in financial turmoil and there are fewer punters in Thailand ( Pattaya ) are you struggling to maintain the level of girls that you have on board at AJ`S and are you fending off enquiries from new girls wanting to have a job at AJ`S .

Obviously the economic situation has had an effect - we have been living with low Sterling rates for about 11 months now - (although they are thankfully better than last Nov when we were looking at 4 Cool

, so people just find they don't have as much cash to spend. there are others who have had to postpone trips. So, yes, the town is quieter (but it's quieter every year it seems).

But frankly, for us, we haven't seen a downturn - no significant growth, but, thankfully, we are holding our own. Other than giving the girls an extra 5 baht on their lady drinks (and increasing LD prices from 95 to 100 B), we have held our prices for 3 years now - so we are now one of the best value bars around (I'm excluding the 45 baht for Heineken crowd). I think we are delivering a consistent experience and luckily we have been around for a few years with a really friendly and enthusiastic customer group. (Creep, creep).

But to be honest, the micro situation is much, much more important. Girls argue, they get jealous of each other and we have to fire them, many girls get bought out of the bar, a new girls arrives - and suddenly we have all the girls in her building!

We will have a great customer that gets all loved up and starts spending every evening at the movies holding hands. I will get talking to someone and next day they will come with 8 mates - for the next 10 days of their holiday. A girl will do something stupid and lose us a customer, another will do something brilliantly - and we will gain a long term customer.

Frankly, that has been going on for years. It's Anna's and my task to manage it. World Economic meltdown or not!

god knows how you do it peter last year when i came to pattaya i was geting
61 bhart £1.00 this year 55 bhart but i think the good times will return soon
but it was all good times for me out there this year with you anna and the girls you made us feel so welcone and them things you dont forget mate

Like in others bars, there are things I like and things I don´t like at AJ´s.
But it´s not up to me to critisize anything.
So, it´s useless to ask me for any details...
I always got treated more than well at AJ´s... something I can definitely not say for all bars in Pattaya.
As a customer who comes overthere one time in a year only, I must confess that I´m always surprised of the warm welcome I get at AJ´s.
One might say that this is caused by my internet presence... But that´s not true.
I was welcome at AJ´s even in the years I hadn´t had any internet presence... I just returned there after one year.
From various German internet forums I have learned that AJ´s is not very popular among the German Pattaya fans.
Dunno why... But who cares !?
I love the bar, the staff and the music... and my only reason for not booking a room in AJ guesthouse is my long period of stay in Pattaya... one month in which I prefer to have a hotelroom, instead a small room in a guesthouse with a noisy bar downstairs.
But for everything else I will always fly the flag for Anna Jet... just by using my limited capabilities that come along with my internet presence at UKBKK, here, at Facebook, in my blog entries and even with the gadgets and link bars on my blog page itself.

Hi Peter , just a short note to say thanks for the reply , this allows us tourists to see the issues from a different perspective . Like I have said before , you are a brave man wanting to run a bar , everywhere I go I see empty bars ... that can`t be good for the bar owners ............. I`ll stick with what I have over here !!!!! . It was a good insight into the situation on the ground in Patts .
