Anything planned at the bar Pete? My first time being there for this festival so am looking forward to all the girls around Pattaya dressing up in there traditional costumes. Some look absolutely stunning. Should be some nice photos (that I can show the family) at the end of it.

Probably not .....Hi Monty. Feel a bit sad about this one, but we probably won't be doing anything special on Loy Krathong. I'm afraid most other bars won't either.
When we first started we used to pay for a number of the girls to get dressed up - hiring the costumes and paying for the hair and make-up. Ran to around 1200 per girl. Then Anna used to get so excited (and pissed) that she would march the girls (and their customers) off to some beauty show on the basis that it would promote the bar. She would then try and get them into high place (this is driven by how much you pay) They would always lose because there would be some guy, infatuated, who would pay anything to make his particular sweetheart happy!
So we got them dressed up, then they and their customers went somewhere else and Anna would spend another 10-15,000 baht. After Anna's birthday - this was the worst financial night of the year!
But with Anna's Birthday we all have a lot of fun - in the bar!
Nowadays some of the girls get dressed up - certainly Anna does and she might decide to sponsor a few. But hopefully they won't all tramp off to some rip-off competition.
Around midnight most of us slip down to the beach, say a prayer and pay a chap 20 baht to float our Krathongs into the sea. It's very touching (let me admit here that my first holiday in Pattaya, when I met Anna, was over the Loy Krathong festival - so don't get carried away!).
But then - this is Pattaya - and Anna is Anna. We could end up insisting that they all dress up - and we pay a contribution, we could sponsor the whole bar in a rip off competition, we could hold our own rip-off competition!
Who knows. But bring a camera!

The camera will certainly be there, I may even be persuaded to contribute to a couple of the girls costumes if your chipping in as well.
