Slumdog MillionaireBeside the simple fact that the "Indian" movie "Slumdog Millionaire" is worth to see in cinema, I guess that itīs soundtrack will set a new trend.
I wouldnīt be surprised if the music incl various dance and techno versions has found itīs way to the bars in Pattaya already.
I for myself will look for the CD tomorrow...
The movie tells a great story, based on the novel "Q and A" by Vikas Swarup about real life in India... far beyond the sing-song and dance fantasies of typical Bollywood movies.

Thanks for the link Mike. I haven't seen the film yet, but like you, I have a real affection for India - so I will be looking out for it.
Where are you going for your trip in October?

Hi Peter... I also havenīt seen the film yet, because it is announced to come to German theatres after 14th or 15th March only.
The reason for this might be caused by the simple fact that they always use to translate English and American movies for German audiences.
I always use to say that this process steals away the real feeling of a film... But I understand that it is helpful for those of us Krauts who do not understand English at all.
Iīm looking forward to watch the English original version, maybe when Iīm in LOS... but latest when it is released as DVD later this year.
Anyway... the fact that the movie will not come to Germany before middle of March might be the reason why I couldnīt find the soundtrack on CD today.
I know that the official website offers an incomplete MP3 download... But as the soundtrack collector that I am, I prefer to possess the original disc.
About my trip to India... well, I have made a reservation on KLM flights Luxembourg - Amsterdam - Mumbai - Cochin for the begin of November 2009.
If everything works fine, Iīll travel together with a friend who is married with an Indian lady for more than 30 years now.
Itīs now about 7 years ago since I traveled to India last time... and before that I traveled six times from south to north and visited all the touristy places overthere.
This time I have two and a half week only and so I will stay in Kerala State to meet up with old friends again.
Itīs going to be a trip, completely different from my escapades in LOS.
But back to Indian movies:
The only "Bollywood" film I ever liked was a Tamil film, titled "Indian"
( ...sometimes written "Inthian" ) which was made in 1995, with famous Tamil actor Kamal Hassan.
I watched the movie on VHS at one of my Srilankan friendīs home here in Germany and I was very impressed, because beside all the Bollywood dancing there was a great sociocritical story, about life and intergenerational conflicts in India ( ...no fairy tale like in other Bollywood films ).
Even the movie was in Tamil, I could follow the story... thanks to my little knowledge in Tamil language.
Donīt know if the film meanwhile got translated to English, or if theyīve added some English subtitles.
But Iīm sure that you would like it, unless you like "Kamasutra" only... Will see if I can find any weblink with further informations, which I will add to my next post here in the forum.
PS: On my todayīs online search for "Indian" I found only this Imdb entry:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116630/plotsummary
Looks like the movie has been re-named to "Hindustani" and probably translated to other Indian languages.

"Slumdog Millionaire" has to be seen on the big screen !
I finally made it to the cinema tonight to watch this great movie.
The film deserves all the eight Oscars... Great story, good actors and... great music !
But the very best song of the soundtrack is "O... Saya".
